TEEX Tech Notes
As a thought leader in first responder training and response, the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) regularly hosts summits to discuss challenges and best practices related to emerging technologies while addressing important problems related to public safety, workplace safety, and homeland security. Not to be confused with TEEX-Tested Reports, TEEX Tech Notes are reports that present summit discussion findings to aid responders and local governments in developing, implementing and improving prevention and response and establishing regulatory considerations. TEEX Electric Vehicle/Energy Storage Systems Summit
Each year, the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) hosts an Electric Vehicle (EV) and Energy Storage Systems Summit (ESS) to discuss challenges and best practices related to EV/ESS incidents. TEEX brings together experienced groups of stakeholders from fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and local governments to identify current practices, needs, and unresolved issues related to EV/ESS fires.

2025 EV/ESS Report

TEEX’s second EV/ESS Summit furthered the initiatives from the first summit, highlighting new practices such as EV/ESS fire incident trainings and research on the hazardous gases that are expelled once off-gassing occurs. This report aims to transcribe key findings from the summit and also serves as a resource containing guidance documents and relevant organizations pertaining to response efforts for first responders.

2023 EV/ESS Report

TEEX’s October 2023 Summit established the basis for identifying challenges associated with Li-ion battery fires and incidents. The Summit provided a centralized space for the sharing of information and offered a forum to foreword thinking ideas relating to prevention, response, and code enforcement issues from subject matter experts and stakeholders that can be described in the report below.
